What happens if an uninsured driver hits me?
If an uninsured driver hits you, and the accident wasn’t your fault, we’ve got you covered. You’ll need to provide us with the make, model and registration number of the car driven by the uninsured driver. Once you have these details, just get in contact with our claims team, who’ll help you through the process of your claim.
How do I find out if the other driver is insured?
In the event of an accident, you can call our team from the roadside and, in most cases, we will be able to check if the other driver is insured for you.
Is the uninsured driver promise included with my car insurance?
Our uninsured drivers promise is included with all our comprehensive car insurance policies, giving you extra peace of mind when you need it most. So, with every comprehensive policy you purchase from us, you can be sure if an uninsured driver hits you, we’ve got your back.
Will I lose my no claims discount?
If you’re hit by an uninsured driver and have to claim with AXA, your no claims discount won’t be affected. This is assuming that the accident wasn’t your fault. You will need to provide the make, model and registration number of the car in question. In some cases, you may temporarily lose your no claims discount until the cause of the accident is determined. But your bonus will be reinstated once we know you aren’t at fault. When you first make your claim you may need to pay an excess. However, once we have confirmed that the uninsured driver was at fault this will be paid back to you.
