- Scott Wheway replaces Ian Brimecome as Chairman of AXA UK
- Brimecome retires from his post after five years and over 10 as a Non-Executive Director
- Wheway will take up the post on 12th December 2017
AXA UK has appointed Scott Wheway as Chairman of AXA UK, succeeding Ian Brimecome, who is retiring from the post after five years and over 10 years as a Non-Executive Director.
Wheway, who has more than a decade of experience in financial services, was formerly a member of the board of Aviva until December 2016, he also served as Chairman of Aviva Insurance until September 2017.
He is currently Senior Independent Director of Santander UK, where he is Chairman of the Responsible Banking Committee. He also sits as a Non-Executive Director of FTSE 100 energy services company, Centrica, and is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
Wheway’s appointment will bring knowledge and experience of the retail sector to the Board and as AXA UK works towards its Ambition 2020. Wheway will join the board of AXA UK immediately and become Chairman on 12 December 2017.
Brimecome, who joined AXA in 2007 as a Non-Executive Director, also serves as Chairman of Equitable Life Assurance Society, Tokio Marine Kiln Group, HCC Holdings and Delphi Financial Group
