McCafferty, who joins AXA from Flood Re where he was previously CEO, takes up his new position today (13th February). McCafferty’s move to AXA was first announced in October last year.
As part of the role, McCafferty will be responsible for leading AXA Insurance’s four strategic business units - Commercial Intermediary, Personal Intermediary and Corporate Partnerships, Personal Direct and Retail Partnerships and AXA Business Insurance.
McCafferty has more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. As well playing a fundamental role in the launch of the Flood Re scheme, he has also held a number of high profile positions in the sector including Commercial Director at Paymentshield, President of Willis UK, Finance Director at RSA’s commercial division and Head of Aviva Corporate Partnerships.

His excellent contribution to the Flood Re scheme has shown that he understands the evolving demands of consumers in the sector – which will be vital in his new role.
Brendan brings a wealth of experience from both an underwriting and distribution perspective which makes him the ideal person to take AXA Insurance to the next level. Brendan will make this his own and I have every confidence that he will be a huge success here.

However, we can’t afford to stand still and must keep innovating and developing our proposition to ensure that we not only continue to be successful but lead the way in our markets.
