  • AXA UK & Ireland today announces the appointment of Rahul Gumber as Chief Risk Officer, subject to regulatory approval
  • Rahul replaces David Baker, who has held the role for five years and is stepping away from his full-time career to focus on a non-executive portfolio

Rahul joins AXA UK from Aviva Canada, where he is Chief Risk Officer responsible for leading the second line risk and compliance team.  He was previously Chief Risk Officer at Aviva Ireland and has a track record of building cohesive, high-performing teams. Rahul is also a strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Rahul will take up the post in the new year, and we’ll ensure a smooth handover.

I’m delighted to be returning to the UK to join AXA UK & Ireland at such an exciting time for this business. I look forward to supporting the future success of AXA UK&I and building on the great work David has done. AXA is a great company with a great brand, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team.

Rahul Gumber

I’m excited to welcome Rahul to our team. He has a deep understanding of the insurance sector, the regulatory landscape, and the commercial dynamics of our industry. His strong leadership qualities and strategic thinking are evident as is his track record of building cohesive high performing teams. I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Baker for his support and commitment over the past five years and wish him the very best with his next exciting chapter.
