How do I get a No Claims Discount (NCD) with AXA?
You can transfer no claims discount from a previous policy to us if:
- The name of the previous policy was the same as the policy you are taking out with us
- Your previous policy was issued by a UK insurer
- You aren’t currently using the no claims discount on any other vehicle that you own or use
- Your previous policy was cancelled no more than 2 years ago, and you haven’t taken out any other motor insurance since then
- The policy you wish to transfer no claims discount from was for a private car, or another van. We won’t accept transfer in of no claims discount from other types of policy such as motorcycle, motor trade, motorhome or fleet policies.
If the no claims discount you wish to transfer is not for the same vehicle you are covering with us, we’ll only accept this if the van you’re insuring with us hasn’t been insured by you previously.
After taking out your new policy with us, you’ll need to send us proof of your no claims discount within 28 days of your policy start date. You can do this by emailing your proof of no claims discount to us here: van.insurance@axa-insurance.co.uk.
What do you accept as proof of NCD?
To transfer any existing no claims discount to us, acceptable proof of no claims discount is a document such as specific proof of no claims discount letter, or your most recent renewal schedule from your current insurer on their own headed paper which shows:
- The other policy was issued in the same name as the policy you are taking out with us
- The registration number of vehicle covered by the other policy
- The date that your other policy ended
- The number of years no claims discount which was available for transfer when the policy ended.
What is Mirrored No Claims Discount?
If you’re unable to transfer any no claims discount to your new policy (for example, it’s already being used on another van or car that you own), then we may be able to offer you a discount on your premium to recognise your claims free driving history.
We’ll ask you for details about the no claims discount you are earning on your other policy and if it’s acceptable to us, the discount we offer you is called a mirror no claims discount.
Do I qualify for a Mirrored No Claims Discount?
You may be able to qualify for a mirror no claims discount if:
- The van you want to insure with us has not been insured by you previously
- You are currently earning a no claims discount on another car or van that you own
- The policy you wish to take out with us will be in your own name (i.e. not for a partnership or a limited company).
What do we accept as proof of Mirrored No Claims Discount (NCD)?
Acceptable proof for mirror no claims discount is a document from your other car or van insurance policy on their headed paper which includes the following information:
- The other policy is in the same name as the one you are taking out with us
- The other policy is still in force
- The other policy is issued by another UK insurer
- The number of years no claims discount you are currently entitled to on your other policy.
Do I need to provide proof of my No Claim Discount?
Yes, you’ll need to send us proof of your no claims discount within 28 days of taking out your new policy with us.
How can I get proof of my No Claims Discount?
You can send us a copy of your most recent renewal notice from your current insurer, or you can ask them to send you a proof of no claims discount letter.
What happens If I don't send proof my NCD within 28 days?
If you are unable to send us acceptable proof of your no claims discount within 28 days of taking out your new policy with us, then we will remove the discount and charge an additional premium.
How can I send my NCD Proof to AXA?
The easiest way to send us proof your no claims discount is to email it to us here: van.insurance@axa-insurance.co.uk.
Please make sure to include your new policy number within the header of the email so that we can match it up to your policy as quickly as possible.
Have I earned any No Claim Discount if I have been a named driver on another policy?
Unfortunately, we don’t currently recognize any no claims discount which may have been earned as a named driver on another policy.
Do you accept NCD from abroad?
No, we only accept transfer of no claims discount from a previous UK insurer.
How do I protect my NCD?
When you buy or renew your policy, you may be able to protect your NCD.
In return for paying a small additional premium, you will be able to make a claim on your policy without it affecting your no claims discount when you next renew your policy. If you make a second claim within the same period of insurance, then your no claims discount will no longer be protected and will be reduced when you renew.
Please be aware however that having NCD protection doesn’t mean that your premium won’t increase at its next renewal date, and you may still see an increase if as claim has been made on your policy.
If I make a windscreen claim on my van insurance, will it affect my NCD?
No, making a claim for windscreen damage won’t affect your no claims discount when you come round for renewal.
However, making a claim may still have some effect on your future premiums.
